Description
This Paris street scene by Caroline Burnett gathers pedestrians, café awnings and layered façades beneath the pale domes of Sacré-Cœur. Warm rust-red roofs and shopfronts contrast with cool blue-gray buildings in the distance. Thickly applied paint catches the light across the architecture and street, giving the scene a lively, textured surface and a softly atmospheric sense of depth.
The composition draws its charm from everyday movement: small figures cross the open foreground while windows, awnings and a slender streetlamp guide the eye toward Montmartre. A Burnett signature appears at the lower left. The painting is presented in an ornate gold-tone frame with decorative corners, a fabric liner and a narrow inner slip, echoing the warm highlights within the picture.
Overall framed dimensions are approximately 16 inches high by 20 inches wide. Light wear is visible on the frame and fabric liner. The reverse of the canvas shows spotting and discoloration, and the wooden frame has surface marks. A hanging wire is attached. Please review the front, signature and reverse photographs for condition.
