Description
A Peasant Replying: “Dats niet” depicts a bearded peasant man in a tall, narrow composition. His heavy clothing and turned posture fill much of the scene, while a smaller figure appears farther away. The words in the title are visible on the historic sheet above him.
Rembrandt made this etching in 1634. The full sheet, including its lettering and margins, remains part of this impression of A Peasant Replying: “Dats niet”.
