Description
In Still Life with Flowers and Prickly Pears, Renoir sets a loose bouquet above a richly patterned surface, with prickly pears gathered below. Pinks, reds and creamy whites lift the flowers against the deeper colors around them.
The blue-and-white vase provides a cool pause within the warm arrangement. Soft edges and varied touches of paint give the still life a sense of abundance, connecting the flowers, fruit and textiles through color. The work is by Auguste Renoir.
