Description
A Bear Walking by Leonardo da Vinci studies an animal in motion with remarkably concentrated attention. The bear’s heavy body and carefully observed limbs emerge through fine silverpoint lines on prepared paper, giving the small drawing a strong sense of weight and movement.
Made around 1482–85, the sheet reflects Leonardo’s close study of the natural world. Faint traces of an earlier seated figure remain beneath the bear, revealing how he reused the paper as a working surface.
