Description
Vincent van Gogh’s flowering-tree study centers on a slender trunk and a delicate spread of pink blossoms. The branches rise against bands of green grass, a pale path, and a fence beyond. Small strokes describe the flowers with freshness and variety, while the nearly vertical trunk gives the image a simple, firm structure.
Painted in Arles in 1888, the work belongs to Van Gogh’s close attention to spring orchards. The young tree appears both fragile and vigorous, its blossoms standing out against the quieter ground. Color and brushwork carry the sense of new growth, turning a modest garden subject into an intimate celebration of the season.
