Description
Vincent van Gogh’s Rosebush in Blossom brings a dense cluster of flowers close to the viewer. Pale pink and white blooms emerge from dark leaves, surrounded by streaks of green, yellow, and earthy brown. The bush has no tidy outline; its branches and flowers seem to gather their form from the movement of the painted strokes.
Dating from 1889, the work gives a small garden subject an unusually vivid presence. Van Gogh’s short, curling marks connect the flowers to the surrounding vegetation, making the whole scene feel alive with growth. The light blossoms provide a gentle focus within a surface filled with energetic color.
