Description
Vincent van Gogh’s Le Moulin de la Galette places a windmill above a broad green slope beneath an open blue sky. Small buildings and a long fence follow the rising ground, giving the hill a gentle, inhabited character. The mill’s upright form provides a quiet landmark, while the foreground remains spacious and softly textured.
Loose strokes of green and yellow make the hillside feel fresh and uneven, with scattered plants creating small interruptions across its surface. Van Gogh gives as much attention to the space leading toward the mill as to the structure itself. The result is an airy view in which a familiar neighborhood landmark meets a still partly rural landscape.
