Description
The Crucifixion, an engraving copy after Albrecht Dürer’s Passion design, gathers mourners beneath the cross. Christ’s outstretched body occupies the upper field, while the figures below turn inward through lowered faces and closely placed hands. Dark horizontal lines in the sky give the scene a solemn atmosphere and draw attention to the pale form above.
The copied composition preserves the balance between the cross’s firm geometry and the flowing shapes of the gathered robes. Fine lines separate bodies, fabric and ground, keeping the small scene richly tangible. Its emotional force comes from the relationship between suffering and attendance: the figure above remains exposed, while the company below gives the episode the intimacy of shared grief and devotion.
