Description
Two Dancers by Edgar Degas brings two standing figures together on a pale pink ground. One turns partly toward the viewer while the other faces her, their bent arms and inclined heads suggesting a shared moment of preparation.
Dark, sweeping strokes describe the upper bodies, then loosen into spare outlines around the skirts and legs. Small touches of pale blue brighten the costumes without filling every form. This open handling gives Two Dancers the freshness of a study, keeping attention on posture and the relationship between the figures.
