Description
Beggar Man and Beggar Woman Conversing is a 1630 etching by Rembrandt van Rijn. In this compact print, two standing figures turn toward one another in conversation, their worn clothing and bent postures described with quick, economical lines.
The small scale and open paper around the figures give the encounter an immediate, observational quality. Rembrandt concentrates attention on gesture, stance, and the relationship between the two figures rather than on an elaborate setting.
