Description
Beggar with a Wooden Leg is an etching by Rembrandt van Rijn from around 1630. The standing figure is shown in profile with his wooden leg clearly visible, his body and clothing defined through a compact network of etched lines.
The sparse setting keeps attention on the figure’s posture and movement. The Metropolitan Museum of Art identifies this impression as the second of four states, placing it among Rembrandt’s early studies of people encountered in everyday life.
