Description

Landscape with a Girl by Auguste Renoir places a small figure in blue and red among loosely brushed trees and open ground. Yellow, green and violet washes gather into rounded foliage, while broad areas of pale paper give the scene a light, unfinished freedom.

Dating from the 1880s or early 1890s, the watercolor combines a figure study with an atmospheric landscape. The girl’s quiet presence provides a human focus within the flowing patches of color.
