Description
May Belfort by Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec is an 1898 crayon lithograph from his portfolio Portraits of Actors and Actresses, Thirteen Lithographs. The Irish performer was one of the theatrical personalities who supplied Lautrec with a recurring subject.
The Metropolitan Museum of Art records May Belfort as a crayon lithograph on china paper and identifies the sitter as May Belfort (1872–1929). The portrait belongs to Lautrec’s late-1890s exploration of actors, singers, and the public face of Parisian entertainment.
