Description
Wassily Kandinsky’s Murnau View with Railway and Castle places a dark locomotive across a brightly colored landscape. Telegraph poles and tracks create a strong foreground pattern, while orange buildings and green hills rise behind them. The sky and distant forms are reduced to broad patches.
The train’s black silhouette anchors the vivid scene. Warm buildings and cool landscape colors pull in different directions, creating a lively balance around it. Kandinsky keeps the location recognizable while allowing color and simplified shape to dominate the experience.
