Description
Rembrandt with Raised Sabre is a 1634 etching with touches of burin by Rembrandt van Rijn. The half-length figure faces the viewer in a cap and heavy clothing, with the curved blade rising at the side of the composition. Strongly worked shadows set off the face against the lighter paper.
The Metropolitan Museum of Art holds this impression of Rembrandt with Raised Sabre. Its sheet shows age-related toning and marks, while the figure and etched detail remain legible.
