Description
Saint Eustace, a reduced reverse engraving copy after Albrecht Dürer, presents a hunter’s revelation within an oval frame. The kneeling figure turns toward a stag, while dogs, a horse and the densely wooded setting fill the surrounding space. The curved boundary gathers the landscape and animals into a close, richly populated devotional scene.
The copied design preserves the contrast between the hunter’s concentrated attention and the lively natural world around him. Trees, rocks and animal bodies offer many points of interest, yet the encounter remains the clear center. Its reversed, reduced format gives the familiar composition a distinctive presentation, allowing the viewer to explore the connection between sacred revelation and the carefully observed textures of an ordinary hunting landscape.
