Description

The Circumcision: Small Plate is an etching with touches of drypoint made by Rembrandt van Rijn around 1630. The biblical scene is compressed into a small vertical format, with clustered figures gathered around the central ritual.

Dense hatching and drypoint accents create pockets of shadow within the compact interior, while lighter passages help separate the figures. The Metropolitan Museum of Art identifies the work as a small-scale print from Rembrandt’s early career.
