Description
Three Putti with Trumpets brings winged children together around a decorative support and a blank hanging shield. Two raise long instruments while another perches above, creating a playful exchange of curves, lifted arms and outspread wings. The small figures fill the composition with energetic movement, their rounded bodies set against the elegant lines of the ornament.
Albrecht Dürer’s engraving gives these imaginary children the physical liveliness of real ones. Carefully modeled limbs and fluttering feathers contrast with the smooth open surface of the shield. The arrangement suggests celebration without requiring a larger story, allowing music, balance and ornamental invention to become the subject of a light, compact image full of cheerful activity.
