Description

Flora by Rembrandt van Rijn turns the image of a woman into a celebration of flowers, rich fabrics and warm light. Her head is shown in profile beneath a broad hat crowned with leaves and blossoms, while one hand extends a small gathering of flowers.

The pale, gathered blouse catches the light in a cascade of folds above a golden bodice. Darker passages around her figure deepen the glow of the costume and give Flora an atmosphere of quiet abundance.
