Hills around the Bay of Moulin Huet, Guernsey

Description

Hills around the Bay of Moulin Huet opens a view through richly colored slopes toward sheltered blue water and pale coastal cliffs. Greens, ochres and warm pinks mingle across the foreground, while a light, cloud-filled sky stretches above the distant sea.

Auguste Renoir gives the Guernsey landscape a shimmering surface through varied, lively brushstrokes. In Hills around the Bay of Moulin Huet, the enclosing hills guide the eye toward the bay, creating an expansive sense of distance within the intimate coastal view.
