Description
Little Bulls’ Folly by Francisco Goya suspends a cluster of bulls against a deep, nearly empty darkness. Their bodies overlap and turn in impossible directions, with raised tails, horns and outstretched legs giving the group an uncanny sense of movement.
The finely drawn animals feel substantial, yet there is no firm ground beneath them. This unsettling contrast gives the scene from the Disparates its dreamlike force, leaving the viewer between recognizable animal life and an inexplicable vision.
