Description
Pinnacle of the Right Portal rises through curling ornament, flaming vessels and small heraldic figures. A trumpeter at the left and a standard bearing a griffon extend the ceremonial character of this sheet from The Arch of Honor.
Hans Springinklee designed the pinnacle and trumpeter, while Albrecht Dürer supplied the Golden Fleece and griffon standard. Their woodcut turns the summit of Maximilian I’s imagined arch into a celebration of rank, lineage and imperial display.
