Description
Renoir Two Young Girls at the piano, one seated at the keys while the other leans close to follow the music. In Two Young Girls at the Piano, Auguste Renoir turns an ordinary moment at home into a tender scene of attention and companionship, warmed by rich color and soft, flowing paint.
Renoir explored this subject with unusual care after receiving an invitation to paint for the Musée du Luxembourg in Paris. He worked through five related canvases. This is the 1892 painting in the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Robert Lehman Collection; other versions of the composition have their own details and histories.
