Description
Under the Trees by Max Pechstein brings four nude figures into a landscape of sweeping trunks and vivid color. Painted in 1911, the scene connects the human figure with the rhythms of the surrounding trees, using simplified shapes and strong contrasts rather than detailed naturalism. The broad horizontal composition gives the group and the landscape room to interact.
The work belongs to Pechstein’s Expressionist period and is associated with the Baltic setting of Nidden. Curving trees, warm figure tones and contrasting areas of green turn the outdoor scene into an arrangement of movement and color. This giclée reproduction is suited to collectors interested in expressive landscapes and the nude figure in early twentieth-century art.
