Description
Reine de Joie par Victor Joze, after Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, turns a close social encounter into a bold arrangement of red, black and yellow. The clustered figures fill the upper design, while sweeping lettering and table objects carry the eye downward.
The sheet preserves both the title design and its printed acknowledgment of Lautrec’s poster. Flat color, emphatic profiles and asymmetrical spacing give the composition a lively, theatrical character.
