Description
Claude Monet’s The Bridge at Argenteuil places sailboats on quiet water beneath a bright summer sky. Slender masts cross the darker tree line, and the bridge enters from the right, its arches reflected in the river. White hulls and pale clouds bring light into the blue-green scene.
Painted in 1874, the work gives familiar riverside activity a spacious, restful arrangement. Reflections loosen the solid shapes above them, while small strokes animate the surface. The boats, bridge, and distant shore meet through a shared play of sunlight and water.
