Description
Two Dancers by Edgar Degas shows a pair of ballet figures turned in different directions against a cool blue-green ground. Their arms are bent close to the body, and one dancer’s lifted heel gives the otherwise quiet arrangement a subtle sense of motion.
Dark lines trace the skirts and limbs, while white highlights touch shoulders, bodices, and shoes. Loose diagonal marks animate the space around them. The restrained palette lets the drawing’s changing pressure and delicate contrasts carry the expression of Two Dancers.
